This class will introduce you to the xTool F1 Ultra dual-laser engraver. This machine is great for marking and engraving metal or stone, but can also work with wood, acrylic, leather, and more. It’s fast, precise, and especially useful for creating signage, jewelry, tool marking, tags, and decorative items.

The xTool F1 Ultra uses both a blue diode laser (445 nm) and an infrared fiber laser (1064 nm), giving it the ability to work on everything from soft organic materials to hard metals. Instead of moving a toolhead like many other machines, the F1 Ultra uses a galvo system to direct the laser beam with mirrors. You can think of it as a “computer-controlled beam of light” that can draw, mark, or cut with exceptional detail.

You will learn basic tool operation with an emphasis on safety, material selection, and how to use the xTool Studio software. With successful completion of this class, you will be certified to use the xTool F1 Ultra on your own at Maker Works with a membership.
