BERNINA LONGARM QUILTING MACHINE
Tool Training
Duration: 3 hours
Class Size: 3 people
Price: $100
Ages: 16+ (If younger, guardian must attend and purchase a class seat)
This is Becky Grover’s quilt titled “Fragments” All the quilting was done free motion on the Q20.
This class will introduce you to the Bernina Q 20 Longarm Quilting Machine with a 10' Studio Frame. This machine is ideal for finishing quilts with professional-quality stitching and is great for both large-scale quilting and detailed free-motion work.
The Bernina Q 20 is designed for precision stitching across quilts mounted on a 10-foot frame. Unlike a standard sewing machine, the longarm allows the quilter to move the machine head over the stationary quilt layers, offering greater control and visibility across large surfaces. You'll learn how to:
Load a quilt onto the frame
Wind a bobbin
Thread the machine
Change the needle
How to adjust thread tension
Switch between stitch-regulated, basting, and manual modes
With the successful completion of this class, you’ll be certified to use the Bernina Q 20 Longarm Quilting Machine independently at Maker Works.
People under age 16 may take this tool training with their parent/guardian (both adult and minor must register and pay). A parent/guardian who has taken the tool training must also accompany them when operating the tool. Ages 16 and up are encouraged to take tool trainings in any area they wish, with parent/guardian approval.
