Kumiko Make & Take

Duration: 3-4 hours
Class Size: 3
Price: $119 / kit (introductory price)
Ages: Adults 16+, or 8-15 with a parent

Prerequisites: None

Kumiko is the Japanese technique of assembling wooden pieces without the use of nails. Thinly slit wooden pieces are grooved and then fitted individually. We have 3d printed jigs with all of the angles needed to make this design, the only pieces we pre-cut are for the frame!

You’ll spend the first hour going over proper technique and learning some of the history about Kumiko. The rest of the time you’ll be hand sawing, chiseling, and assembling your own Kumiko panel.

This workshop is open to all, please keep in mind that it requires patience, precise cuts, and some wrist strength and dexterity! Each spot purchased includes the materials to make one project but we’ll have two chairs available if you’d like to share a kit with a partner.

On top of being a fantastic Make & Take, this workshop directly supports your local makerspace!
