Boat Gutter Racing Contest
Date: Sunday, August 3rd, 2025
Time: 4 PM - 6 PM
Price: $20 per team
Where: 3765 Plaza Dr, Ann Arbor MI
GOAL: Build a boat that can travel down an 8ft long waterway the fastest. An electronic fan will blow your boat while it races against another team in a 1v1.
Details
Materials Provided:
Duct tape
Paper
Popsicle sticks
Glass beads (for weight)
Melted glue from gluesticks (but you cannot use the gluestick in the structure itself!)
Design Requirements:
Must float!
Must be moved by wind!
Only the materials listed above can be part of the final contraption
Agenda
4:00 PM – 4:15 PM: Introduction & Rules
4:15 PM – 5:15 PM: Build Time
5:15 PM – 6:00 PM: Racing!

🥇 1st place : three (3) $60 class discount codes
🥈 2nd place : three (3) $40 class discount codes
🥉 3rd place*: three (3) $20 class discount codes
*3rd place will go to the best-performing team aged 18 and under, unless that team already placed 1st or 2nd.

Kids are welcome, but when the competition heats up, it’s every engineer for themselves!
