Diversity in Tech
Syrena provides weekly maintenance on tools throughout our shop, teaches classes, and helps keep a lot of the background functions of the shop moving. Maker Works strives to create a shop culture that is open and welcoming to all.

Access to High Capital Equipment
We provide access to tools that are often heavier, costlier, and more difficult to maintain than most individuals are able to handle. A community shop distributes that more evenly, so more people can benefit!

A Space to Create
Our wood shop comes with a great selection of tools and enough space to accommodate a variety of projects. Members bring in the ideas, materials, and assistance to create some amazing work.

Girl Scouts and Woodworking
We provide learning activities for just about all ages. A Girl Scout Troop earned their woodworking badge by learning to drill, cut, sand, glue, clamp and assemble their very own birdhouses!

Helping Small Businesses
Gail learned how to operate a laser cutter at Maker Works in February of 2021. Shortly after she launched a business, and for the past year has grown it to a point where she’s now the proud owner of her own laser cutter!

Zebrotics - A High School FIRST Robotics Team at Maker Works!
For over a decade Maker Works has supported middle and high school FIRST Teams with space, tools, and training. Many of the these teams have gone on to the FIRST World Championships!

Supporting our Maker in Residence
Izzy is a young maker who pushes for environmental awareness and positive social change. Over a three month period she learned how to use our laser cutters (and design for) to sell items on her Etsy site. The sales of which provide funding for a local non profits.

Life Skills! Household Tools workshop with Our House!
Our House’s Mosaic Program participated in our Household Tools Workshop as part of their life skills program. Learning tools ranging from hammers and hand drills to saws and putty knives, they walked away with their own hook rack and a tool bag full of tools!
Huge thanks to Zingerman’s Mail Order and Stadium Hardware for helping fund this workshop, and a big thanks to the volunteers for teaching it!
