Mother’s Day Custom Laser Cut Sign Workshop

Overview

Create a layered laser-cut sign to celebrate Mother’s Day. Customize your design, watch it cut out on our laser cutter, then paint and assemble your finished piece. No prior experience needed.

What You’ll Do

You’ll start by customizing your sign (you can practice ahead of time by going to this link!). Then, our instructor will laser cut your design with you. Once the pieces are ready, you'll paint and assemble your sign however you like.

Agenda

• First 15 minutes: Design your sign. Choose what size you want your sign to be, along with what names you want on it. Each sign will be 3/8" in thick. Recommended sign sizes:

  • Small: 7.5 in wide x 3 in tall

  • Medium: 9.5 in wide x 3.25 in tall

  • Large: 11.5 in wide x 3.5 in tall

• Next 30 minutes: Instructor will laser cut the sign as students watch. This is a great way to get an overview of how the laser works and see it in action! Each student’s sign will only take 5-10 minutes to cut.

• Final 15 minutes: Sand, paint, and assemble your sign!

• After class: Want to make sure it’s perfect? Stay as long as you like to continue painting and gluing.

Materials Provided

We supply all materials, including paints, brushes, glues, and sheets of 1/8” thick Baltic birch for laser-cutting.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is beginner-friendly and open to all ages. No design, laser, or painting experience necessary. If you are not an active member, the class price is $45. If you have an active membership at Maker Works, use the code "MEMBERPRICE" to take $15 off.
